Beat feet is coming to the Summer Gathering!
Jude Winwood is a UK qualified teacher, with experience in the
UK and in international schools in Africa and several French overseas
departments, including the West Indies and dependencies in the Indian
Ocean.
Widely acknowledged as a language and music specialist, Jude has a
particular interest in using rhythm as a key development tool for children, as
well as in other settings such as working with various groups within the mental
health sector.
Jude has been using music, and African drumming in
particular, to help children and adults of all ages, skill levels and
development stages to discover and harness their own talents and
strengths.
At Jude's pre-school classes babies and young children have all
benefitted from the fun and entertaining approach that marks all
courses.
All sessions aimed at children integrate the core values of the National Plan
for Music Education and appropriate requirements of the National Curriculum.
But, much more than that, participants are placed right at the centre of
attention and so develop self confidence and self belief as they experiment with
new musical concepts.
The notion of 'play' is firmly at the heart of any learning
experience with children and they are encouraged to explore for themselves
their own capabilities and capacity to be creative in ways that regular
classroom activities can sometimes restrict.

She regularly calls upon experts in all forms of drumming to ensure
that all events receive the greatest possible input from many and varied
sources. She has organised workshops as far afield as The Gambia, Reunion
Island, Ethiopia and the Seychelles.
Jude has worked closely with inner city projects in
Birmingham as well as special schools in the East Midlands, and festival events
around Britain.
As a fully qualified teacher Jude understands the need for
structure as well as fun and enjoyment. Each workshop is carefully planned with
the client and goals and outcomes are all in place from the
outset.
