South Notts College

South Nottingham College offers general further education to people living in the East Midlands. As a public service best practice is to respond directly to the needs and wants of local people and communities, therefore the college is very keen to develop educational programmes that help people be better prepared to live and work in a low carbon economy.

At the summer gathering we will showcase the ‘Missile’, this is attractively designed completely electrical car. We train young people in vehicle maintenance and are the only UK college to introduce an accredited programme for training with electric vehicles. Learners between the ages of 14-18 have responded very enthusiastically to this opportunity. We hope visitors will take the opportunity to test drive the vehicle and have their photograph taken with it.

The renewable energy showcase will be housed in our mobile exhibition unit, the Summer gathering will be its first public outing. The missile electric car is the one we displayed at last years event and visitors can have a sit in and have their photo taken, the hybrid car will be provided by honda or toyota and will help to raise awareness on green transport.

The straw bale house, throughout the event we will errect the building and put the roof on so visitors can see how its done.
